Sandhill Sling Sew-along Weeks 1 & 2
My Sandhill Sling bag is coming along nicely. I love this pattern and I am feeling good about my progress so far. Nothing too crazy yet, but it feels like there are a lot of nice touches that make this feel really professional. And of course, I am a huge fan of the gray and yellow combo.
Around The World Quilt Block #2 - London
It’s not perfect, but it looks good enough to me. I’m still going to love the finished quilt. Also, here’s a peek at what the back looks like before I do the final press. In foundation paper piecing (which is the technique this pattern uses), you place your fabric behind the paper template and sew through the paper on the lines of the template. This creates very precise pieces and seams that would otherwise be nearly impossible to do through traditional piecing. You use a very short stitch length so that it perforates the paper and you can tear it off at the end. Sometimes the pieces come off before I’m finished, sometimes they stay, they do what they want!
The Great Biscuit Bake Off Round 2
Clockwise from top left: Thug Kitchen whole wheat vegan biscuits, Stella Parks/Bravetart, Minimalist Baker vegan biscuits, Little Figgy. Top recipe of today was Little Figgy, followed closely by Stella Parks. The Thug Kitchen ones are straight trash.
Next round will be a couple tests of some different vegan butters I found from Country Crock: one with avocado oil, and one with olive oil. Then a batch of Melissa’s Southern Style Kitchen’s Fluffy Southern Buttermilk Biscuits.
Custom 3D-printed LEGO Batman Beyond Parts
I got the most awesome 3D printing request this week - a red batarang and red Batman Beyond wings for a LEGO minifig. LEGO regularly takes down any 3D printed related things, so it was a tricky process. I was able to find a model for the batarang at 3x scale, so I just had to print it at 1/3 scale to get it to fit. The LEGO wings I had to mash up the Batman Beyond logo and a model of the regular Batman wings (found via the Wayback Machine). It turned out absolutely perfect and I’m so glad I took the extra effort to design the wings myself. I’m consistently impressed with what I can do with the simple 3D Builder program that comes with Windows.
Psychiatrist Breaks Down Mental Health Scenes From Movies & TV
This is an incredible breakdown of various mental health scenes and characters from various movies and TV shows. Psychiatrist Eric Bender’s analysis is excellent and definitely worth the 40 minute watch.
