Ruler Storage
I had been trying to figure out a good way to store all my quilting rulers and finally a friend came up with a great idea to do pegboard on the back of my door. Space is at a premium in my studio, so this was a great idea! I got the pre-cut pegboard, pegboard mounting spacers, hollow door anchors, and pegboard hooks from Menards and installed this in like 30 minutes. Super easy and now I have a ton more storage. Definitely can’t wait to utilize this space.
Build a Quilt Block #5
I finished up block #5 of the Build a Quilt BOM club by Angela Walters and I really like the design of this one. Easy to piece, but looks really complex. I also learned the importance of that “trim your HSTs to 2 1/2 square” step. Only had to rip out one seam, but it was worth it to get nice, neat pieces.
ALL THE CROCHET FOOD!
Guys, I can’t help it. This stuff is just too cute. This particular pattern is from BabyCakes Studios. Blueberry cheesecake is one of my all-time favorite foods, so I could not pass this one up.
Cigarette Pack Cubbies
My husband Brian works as shelter site support for an organization in St. Louis that helps the unhoused community. Currently, their cigarette pack storage solution is a random basket where everyone’s cigarettes are just tossed together and it’s total chaos. So, he requested I 3D print some sort of organized rack system. I made cardstock models of the 2 common cigarette pack sizes and did some testing with some existing models I had. Based on that, I designed a 6-cubby system where each cubby can hold up to 2 packs and I added holes in the sides to reduce material. I’ve also designed number pieces that will fit in one of the holes so that each cubby has a number corresponding to a particular guest. I’ll have 4 racks total which will cover the 23 beds that are in the shelter. Hopefully it helps keeps things organized and reduces stress surrounding the cigarettes.
Bobby Plager (3/11/1943 - 3/24/2021)
Bobby Plager, one of the original Blues players and St. Louis icon, passed away this week. We happened to go to the game where the Blues retired his jersey, and it was a wonderful moment. During the Stanley Cup run in 2019, he was so superstitious that he used separate game-day shampoo and off-day shampoo. I was so happy to watch him finally hoist the Stanley Cup. He finally got his parade down Market Street. He was #5 in the programs, but #1 in our hearts.
