March Meet the Maker 2020 Day 1: My Story

IMG_20200207_211712.jpg

I learned to knit when I was 12, about 23 years ago, using an old illustrated book from my grandma's house, and have basically never stopped since then. I also crochet, sew, quilt, do 3D printing, and a little bit of a lot of other things. This picture showcases several of my crafts, including 3D printing the base for a UFO abduction lamp.

In 2014 I started selling items at craft fairs or community events a couple times a year under the name Land of Misfit Knits. Since then I have expanded my work to include crochet items, quilts, patterns I've designed myself (both knitting and quilting patterns), and 3D printed objects, which led to a re-branding in Oct 2018 to Loops of Gray.

I love making things for other people and I love seeing them use the item. I will always hold a lifetime repair policy, and would much rather fix a hole than see a handmade item sit in a closet. I also try to incorporate mental health advocacy into my work through projects such as #mentalhealthmonday, #shawleveryday, and #hugsyoucanwear.

Thanks for checking out my work and I look forward to sharing more throughout #MarchMeetTheMaker2020
