A few days ago I talked about self-care. But what does self-care really mean? Self-care in essence is the mindful taking time to pay attention to you, not in a narcissistic way, but in a way that ensures that you are being cared for by you. I liken it to the concept of putting your own oxygen mask on before you help others with theirs. If you're not taking care of yourself, it's harder to be in a position to do well at work, in relationships, and with friends.
Here are some high-level examples of self-care:
getting the right amount of sleep for you
getting the right amount of food that you need for energy and happiness
finding time to decompress throughout the day
learning your personal limits and triggers
doing something you enjoy or have fun doing
And if you're looking for something more specific, try one of these:
take a shower
trim your fingernails and toenails
try a face mask
meditate or be mindful for 5 minutes
start a list of times when people compliment you
be screen-free for an hour
drink a big glass of ice water
sit up straight
