#shawleveryday2019 Day 47

We're a little over half way done with #shawleveryday2019 and I want to talk a little more about Independence Center and the Clubhouse Shop program. From their website:

"Independence Center is committed to providing a comprehensive system of high quality programs and services that assist adults in the St. Louis metropolitan area with serious and persistent mental illnesses to live and work in the community, independently and with dignity.

The Clubhouse Shop of Independence Center provides the participants of the Center an opportunity to work in a retail setting. Our program assists people with serious mental illnesses develop skills in customer service, merchandising and other vocational aspects to assist them in returning to work. Members work along side staff helping with pickups, pricing and merchandising of new items. The shop carries both furniture and apparel which is generously donated to us by the community. Proceeds from those donations help generate funds that go towards providing psychiatric rehabilitation, employment, housing and wellness services."
