#shawleveryday2019 Day 71
Guys, self care is hard. I mentioned it before on Day 63 that I struggle with it (although I did manage my 5 grateful things that day) and I still have trouble doing it. It's hard to take the extra time to focus on yourself. There are so many regular care things to do, like laundry and cooking and dishes and taking the car to the shop and whatever else. Those all seem to have higher priority than myself. :(
I gave some examples of self-care on Day 36, but have I done any of those? Not really. Don't worry, I have showered and trimmed my nails, but certainly not the other things. Journaling is always a great option for self-care, but I struggle with the too-open-ness of it. So, at my therapist's request, I purchased 2 books that offer writing/drawing prompts for each day.
52 Lists for Happiness definitely appeals to my love of making lists, while The Scribble Diary is a little more whimsical. Bonus is that buying the books (which I did in real life, at an actual store) counts as my self care for today!
Do you struggle with self care? Or, what strategies have worked for you?
