World Mental Health Day 2021

I have been writing about and advocating for mental health for at least 3 years. It used to be a topic that very few people talked about. Therapy was shameful, breakdowns were kept hidden, medication was scary, and self care wasn't encouraged.

Since then I've seen so many people open up about their experiences and share what mental health struggles they are going through. We ask for therapy recommendations, we allow ourselves to spend time on self care, we tell someone that "hey, I experience that too."

By sharing our stories, we help others realize that they are not alone. That it's okay to not be okay. That it's okay to ask for help.

For #worldmentalhealthday2021 today, I encourage everyone to speak up about mental health and share something about their experiences. You never know who you might help. You never know who needs to hear that story right now.

You are awesome. You are whole. You are loved.
