Supplies
Yarn: We will be started with worsted weight yarn. It is usually labeled “4 Medium”. More about yarn weights. 1 skein will be enough to get started. Recommended yarns:
Crochet Hook: I recommend starting with a US G or H. Most crochet hooks are metal, but bamboo or plastic ones are fine as well. There are different handle shapes as well, so you may need to try some out in the store to see which is comfortable to hold. Recommended hooks:
Yarn needle: This is used to weave in the ends of your yarn when you are done. Any plastic or metal needle marketed as a “yarn needle” will do fine.
Stitch Markers: These are used to keep track of certain parts of your work. There are a lot of options out there, so pick anything that says “split ring markers” or “locking stitch markers.”
Scissors: Just something small to cut your yarn. If you crochet on a plane, you can use the cutter on dental floss instead of scissors.
