Derealization

Derealization has been hitting me hard today. It's such a weird feeling that's hard to describe. It's like I'm watching a movie, but I'm also part of it and it's also physically unsettling. My heart rate goes up, it gets harder to breath, I get tunnel vision. A lot of times, it's the same "movie" that I've experienced before and there's not a lot I can do to escape other than letting it play out. Often, stopping what I'm doing and going to a different room or walking around will clear it up, but I wish there was a way to prevent it from happening in the first place.

This is definitely a mental health concern that I wish more people talked about. I have no idea if this is a common experience or if others are going through the same thing. That's one of the reasons I'm glad that talking about mental health is becoming easier. So that we can connect with people who have the same problems and help each other out. I don't know of anyone else who experiences this, but if you do, just know that you are not alone. Please feel free to reach out to me if you want to share your story and talk more.
